Progeny (the company founded by Ian Murdock the creator of the Linux Debian
distribution) has released the Linux Platform Manager. The Progeny Platform
Services provides componentized versions of Red Hat and Debian and the
Platform Manager allows people to easily assemble these components into
custom distributions. It seems to be a very interesting approach for
enterprise usage of Linux. A white paper with the details can be found at
