[wellylug] Previous reinstall gone wrong - now ? K.D.E. problem

    Thanks for all your help people.

I did a clean install tonight, and trying XFree 3.3.6  (read on a group somewhere) with (preselected) s3 Trio 64V2 card, monito HP ultra VGA 1024, but changing to 8bpps, got a blue wave screen with "x" which responded to mouse.  Waited and got an icon with "K" in bottom left screen.

I did (possibly very silly) select "Redmond" instead of default theme for KDE.  However, in my permabulations about the net, I've noticed a number of comments about problems with KDE in Mdk 9.1.

I guess I go to KDE website.  Beginning to think Linux is not worth the effort.  I read and read, and it's like reading another lanuage a lot of the time.
