Hi

Im thinking of switching to Red Hat for a number of servers due to the ease of upgrading via RHN. Ive been looking at the possibility of using the new Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES ( see: https://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/es/ ) Basic server. does anyone know how rhn subscriptions work with these products? ie what I would like to do it buy one Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES Basic Edition, deploy that on multiple boxes and then buy a rhn subscription for each box individually - does anyone know if this is possible, or do red hat force you to buy a seperate copy in order to subscribe to the rhn - they offer rhn subscriptions for the download edition, so I could go this route.

Basically I dont realy want/need support from rh so dont want to pay lots for the OS but I would like to use one of the "Enterprise Server" range as they are upgraded much less frequently and i would like and be willing to pay for rhn subscriptions for each box, but only if im not forced to purchase a copy of the OS for each of these boxes.

Anyone have any experience, comments?

Anyone on the list used the rhn to keep multiple boxes up to date, or used the rhn proxy and have any comments?

Does anyone have any experience with open source up2date servers like:

Current - ( http://current.tigris.org/ )

or

NRH-up2date - ( http://www.nrh-up2date.org/ )

Thanks - any rhn comments appreciated.
