[wellylug] hostname

Hi,
I have posted about this before.
When setting up I incorrectly entered my ISP name for local host. Now
when I attempt to log in it says welcome to http://ww etc. I also get
a message saying Gnome can't connect to host so will not function
correctly. I am new to Linux so don't know how Gnome is meant to function!
A friend installed Mandrake 9.0 on my box using ftp from a server he has
set up at work. It is a dual set up Win 95 and mnadrake 9.0.

I am wondering whether to persist or not. Can anyone help. There must
be a way to change the host name I guess. Any instructions involving
terminals and command line need to be explicit as I am a real newbie (or
wannabe)! Am wondering about installing RedHat 8.0 which I had a breif
plyt with, but it seems incompatible with my Epson colour stylus 600
printer - though I guess it ought to be able to configured as CUPS and
gimp-print support the printer.

I have the option of installing RedHat on second old hard drive but am
anxious about bootloader as wiped out MBR last time I tried! Currently
the bootloader gives me the following options
Linux
failsafe
windows
and another which I can't remember but might be old drive under
different name.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks
Rose
