[wellylug] Falcon SFF PC: 12v computer

There was a bit of interest in the Falcon SFF computer, esp 12v input versions,
as a follow up from the one I brought to the last meeting.
A 12v power supply to fit these is over $600. As this seems a bit excessive,
I've chased up an alternative.
Checksun, in Auckland, are importing some of the Via ITX motherboards (as used
in the Falcon).
Procase (NZ), also in Auckland have ITX cases, including two with external 12v
power supplies.
The cases fit, (but don't have as standard) a slimline/laptop CDROM, also
available from Procase.
As far as I'm aware, both these companies have cash accounts, so individuals
can purchase direct, if they prefer, instead of purchasing through a dealer.
This approach is more expensive than the Falcon, but means a 12v PC is pretty
simple to build.
There may be other importers, or you could bring in your own, but this at least
is one option.
Cheers.....
Brent
