Wading in on this...

The first rule of Brand Identity is 'be consistent' and use one branding
only. (See Windows, Coke, Dick Smith, Apple for example...)

Having said that, the whole Linux community seems to run on the rule of 'do
you own thing'.

That's why Linux will always be right where it is...

Good Luck to it in finding an 'identity'.
