Well I did say in my first email: it's listed on my list of
Linux-related mailing lists. If you had looked for it you would have
found it: http://volker.dnsalias.net/linux/lists-nz.html
> specifically for the WLUG group
To be honest, WLUG never looked any different to me than LAW. A bunch of
Linux-enthusiasts in Wellington.

Mine would, but I'd have to dig. They're not likely to be complete
before about 1999 but the wellylug announcement would be in there.
> It doesn't have Yahoo ads and the like (this list adds around *17* lines
Does it? ;) I only see
[obnoxious Yahoo/eGroups ad removed]

It doesn't go to big American corporates whos privacy burble isn't
worth the pixels used to display it. It's not part of the Microsoft
we-control-everything drive. It's hosted at an institution where free
speech still counts, as opposed to a company which only caters for
advertisers and the political right. It's not going to get deleted
because one of the moderators also happens to be moderator for another
group which got deleted because someone complained and it didn't fit
yahoo's political spectrum so they just deleted all that moderator's
groups (yes this happens!). It's not risking to get an age warning
(well the risk for wellylug is pretty low but the possibility is
there).
Last post on it was 25 Feb 02, and it's still operational (I got
Donald's test msg). I think it was Kevin Sartorelli, might be an idea
to track him down.
> don't mind, I can't see why we shouldn't use it.
I could see 2 reasons against it:
NZOSS's facilities may be better than topnz's (are they?)
There's a list owner's ego in the way ;)
As I am not in Wellington I abstain from voting, having given all input
I can give.
Have fun,
Volker
