I have two identical drives, and a carrier to mount the 2d in my
Thinkpad's bay.  I back up with "dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc ..."

I can backup /home (/dev/hda7) separately, and only backup the rest if
the new upgrade is ok after a week.

I like the idea of jumping to Debian.  Red Hat does proprietary things
to their systems, and not all the info on the web works out.  (They do a
good job, but then, I'm faced with this sudden pcmcia stoppage.)
