Hi Johnathan,
thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that won't work as the deamon seems to need 
stopping and starting after each connection/disconnection. I'm not sure if this 
is a 'feature' or a bug (probably a bug as this is a beta driver for the 2.6 
kernel!). I did initially add a script to stop and start slmodemd to the 
default runlevel, however I could only connect to the ISP once... no so 
useful ;-)

I think I may have to go with the script option...
