i work with a bunch of debian fanatics, with all their apt-get, i gotta
keep up. hence i use texstar with urpmi
Texstar is only a little better than using cooker. (IMHO)
i don't know much about them, but they release their own versions of
ximian stuff the day after ximian does - which is better then waiting
months for an official mandrake release, and better than using cooker.
I used ximian red carpet for a while, but found too many conflicts with
libraries, and i'm now happier with texstars gnome stuff.
there are many skins, themes and wallpapers that appear on texstar..
lots of prettys for my cubicle.
texstar also have things like gaim, which is updating frantically now
that msn is shutting out older clients. i can just get the latest gaim
rpm'ed every few days, and hopefully i can always connect. i like the
convenience of urpmi :-)
having said that, texstar's hdlist file has been out of sync more often
than not for the last 3 months. they seem to have come right about 2
weeks ago.
