[wellylug] Nvidia driver problems with Redhat 9

Is your text console a framebuffer one ? (like 132x50 characters...with
Tux-logo on top when you boot etc.)
When you reboot - catch the LILO prompt (press Scroll-Lock, or shift etc
on Boot: propmt), then type label of your boot kernel and "vga=normal"
- it should boot into 80x25 text mode screen.
See if that 80x25 screen becomes trashed after starting and closing X. If
it doesn't - it means your text-mode framebuffer "driver" (kernel module,
that supports framebuffer text modes) mignt need to be recompiled. If
nothing esle helps - put "vga=normal" into your /etc/lilo.conf and re-run
lilo.
