On the subject of USB and Linux, I have purchased and external USB
enclosure and put the 30GB drive in it. 
It functions wonderfully under Windows, but under Linux when it gets
about half way through copying an ISO image (around 640MB) the copy
dialog says 'stalled' and the copy in question never finishes.
This is under Mandrake 9.1 with the stock 2.4.21-0.13mdk kernel.
can anyone suggest what might be happening? The only thing I can think
of is that perhaps it is some kind of power-save mode kicking in?
