[wellylug] Esound -esddsp problem.

Maybe something to do with playing 16-bit sound through an 8-bit sound
daemon (or card)?

Is there a -b option being used with esddsp to control the bits, or a -r
to control the sample rate (in Hz)? Later versions default to 16 bit,
44.1kHz, but these can be changed with the -b/-r options, and I don't
know what options might be getting passed in your init files.

Cheers
Tony

Subject: [wellylug] Esound -esddsp problem.

Hi,

I use the esound daemon and I want run non-esound applications.

Particularly if i type

esddsp defendguin

The sound works but at half speed. It works properly if I kill esd and
run defendguin by itself.

defendguin claims to be trying to setup audio for 22050 Hz 16-bit stereo
and esd is running at 44100 Hz ( according to bits of log messages I
have seen so I expect this is at the root of it all.

Any ideas how I get around this without killing esd ?

Thanks for any ideas
regards
Nigel
