For whatever reason, Mandrake have changed the layout of their mirrors. It
took me a while to figure out what was going on, as I couldn't connect for a
day or two. For instance, the path is now

   ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/linux/distributions/mandrakelinux/devel/10.0/

instead of

   ftp://ftp/lip6.fr/pub/linux/distributions/mandrake-devel/

There is an article at mandrake club here, which has been "non-optimally"
translated into English:

Since a few days you must have notice various troubles regarding mandrakelinux
mirrors. Some of them are empty, some of them have a completetly different and
unusual layout.

To make a long story short, we wanted to create a more logical strcuture, but
I completely failed to switch smoothly.

Fortunately things are now getting better

To be more precise, since quite a lot of time, several monthes and maybe
years, a lot of users and club members were complaining about a lack of logic
into the various mandrakelinux ftp sections: Mandrake-devel, Mandrake,
Mandrake-old, Mandrake-iso... It was not very easy to find out a specific
thing without looking into the various directories.

So, now that the 10.0 is finished, I decided to make the switch to the new
structure previously discussed and to progressively make mirrors using it. As
you may have notice, the progressive part was quite a disaster.

I deeply apologize for the inconvenience, I know that it is very frustrating
when something is not anymore at the same location without any previous
warning. My idea was to create a new structure, and then announce and
advertize it so that mirrors switch one by one. Unfortunately I made some bad
guesses on the main reference machine, and when I realized that some mirrors
were loosing all the mandrakelinux tree, it was too late.

Anyway I hope you will not blame me to much, and consider it as one of the
minor inconvenience of a distribution which try to evolve for the good of its
customers and users.

You will now found two main sections on the mandrakelinux mirrors: devel and
official.

devel contains all the currently still developed distribution, namely the
Mandrakelinux 10.0 Community, and of course Mandrakelinux Cooker. You will
also find the associated ISOs files.

official contains all the past official release of mandrakelinux, 9.0, 9.1,
9.2, and soon the 10.0 Official with their correspondig updates and the
official ISOs.

All you comments are of course welcome.

UPDATE Fafane:
I will put the list of the mirrors for community/devel (10.0-community) and
official (10.0-official) when it will be possible.
On tuesday because easter week-end is begining.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Happy chocolate eggs and bells :)
