True. Because if that was the case we'd be a Linux Advocacy Group. And
that would make us a LAG. And LAG is stink. And being a Lag'ite or a
Lag'ian or a Lagger is even stinker. LUG rolls off the tongue so much
better.
Come on guys, lighten up.
IMHO we'll always be user centric. As long as a LUG does installfests,
and focusses on new people, and **helping each other**, then life will
be sweet and birds will sing.

there is a place for Free/OSS advocacy - but that's life. Everyone
having the opportunity to have that consideration, is IMHO democratic.
Sometimes you will need to think about stuff that is considered outside
the norm. It doesn't hurt.
There will be those that have passion about their point of view, and
there will be opposing points of view, which IMHO is f**king fantastic.
Passion is good. Balance is good. That's life.
JamieD, Sam, Andre, Damon, Brent, Don, Richard, and anyone else who has
a voice - have that voice. But it's not that cool to try and censor
anyone else from having their opinion (not that I'm saying that anyone
has). Open debate is healthy. Being open to other points of view, and a
certain willingness to accept other points of view (or at least
understand and relate to the logic) is also healthy.
Here's an invitation for all of you who feel strongly about this. Come
to the InstallFest. Offer gentle opinions to people that ask. Don't be
getting all "religous door to door salesman" on it (you're dead right on
this one JamieD) - provide information to people to allow them to make
an educated decision for themselves. And hey - hands on deck is good.
Finally, can someone please tell me where the fire is. I'm seeing lots
and lots of smoke, with accusations of being all evangelical and such
like, but I'm failing to see the point that started all of this off,
aside from partitioning hell - which JamieD apologised for. Is there
some behind the scenes evangelical action or some plot to turn the LUG
into a LAG that I am missing?
peace.
