Umm. No its not.

My original post was seeking to find a middle ground between some
opposing views and hopefully find a way for us to have better acceptance
of the coexistence of differing views. Basically I'm quite keen to
improve the signal to noise ratio, and for people to be openminded.

Guidelines regarding what on/off topic and on/off limits for postings to
the mailing list is in a completely different country to 'elected
dictatorship' etc. Chris, you yourself expressed some confusion
regarding the last exchange on the 'mailing list etiquette' thread. It
is about clarifying that sort of thing.

JamieD is interested in a mission statement (although that is probably
just seeking clarification between LUG/LAG stuff). Damon's post was
focussed on the mailing list etiquette. Colin was making funny noises.
Andrej pointed at Colin making funny noises. Somewhere in between a
intellectual leap was made between funny noises and 'elected
dictatorship'.

I think that us doing something to help improve the current signal to
noise ratio on the list would be OK. But there is a vast chasm that lies
between this and the kind of formal/traditional structure that was
proposed (and rejected) in February.
