Have a look at the no 0f OS licences out there, GPL, BSD, etc. Look at the
schism between Gnome & KDE & the philosophical differences between Richard
Stallman & Linus Torvalds.

I don't think the OS model, where you are free to go do your own thing is too
relevant. We want WLUG to be able to support Linus & Richard & Gnome & KDE,
etc.
Not restricting opinions & sending different ones away somewhere else, which
the OS community is often very good at.

We don't (at least I don't) want to have a different <L>UG for every person
with a slightly different perspective, we want an open, all-encompassing WLUG
which we all benefit from.

And as Damon says here, & Colin tried to set out, both of whom I support, to
ensure WLUG does not get taken over by minority activists (or even majority
ones) some sort of guidelines (rules) to ensure there IS room for us all I
believe to be a useful & positive step. Whether for the list or the entire
group.

What- like "He uses the M distro!" :-) & what does unfounded mean? :-)

Or to be blunt, to stop some from trampling over the others :-)
