[wellylug] Signal to Noise ratios

Hi Guys!
<gripe>
	I lurk on this list via the digest option (mainly because I use my work account rather than a home account) and the signal to noise ratio is getting pretty low, as low as about 5% in some cases.
	This is mainly because folk are not being very particular about quoting those bits of the original message that they are responding to. Some seem to have their mail clients (Outlook?) set to "include the original message when replying" which means that frequently a one line reply to a lengthy post includes the entire original post.
	This doesn't present a problem then individual messages are being received as you never scroll down that far.
	It's a different problem when reading a digest. OK, so I'm probably the only guy on the list in digest mode so I'll stop complaining about that...
	However, there is another aspect to this which should be considered - storage space. Ewen is hosting these lists for us for free (thanks Ewen!) so we should be considerate of his resources and not waste disc space on his servers unnecessarily by being sloppy about responses...
</gripe>
	Cheers,  Peter  :-)
