But Mandrake is a _version_ of Linux therefore it is a Linux issue in my
view.

This is a failing of Linux in my view, without some consistancy between
versions the future (to me at least) doesn't look very promising.
Why should I have to go out and spend money on yet another piece of
hardware simply because the version of Linux I choose to use doesn't want
to play ball with it at the moment?
