[wellylug] I think my motherboards gone.... :-(

Whining could be the power supply inverter being loaded by a short
such as a failed capacitor. There's usally some signs when an
electrolytic cap goes like a swollen can and funny smell. I would
unplug & reseat evething & check for shorts etc.
