I want to be able to run the dialup program as a normal user, and not
worry about logging in or sudoing as root

In case this is helpfull, here's a copy of the route output:

Destination     Gateway         Genmask         Flags Metric Ref    Use
Iface

This line appears when I dialup:
ras7-a-ltwg-loo *               255.255.255.255 UH    0      0        0
ppp0

This is my network:
192.168.0.0     *               255.255.255.0   U     0      0        0
eth0

This is the line I added to connect to the web:
default         210-246-18-232. 0.0.0.0         UG    0      0        0 

This is my other default gateway
default         Bob             0.0.0.0         UG    1      0        0
eth0

It appears that ppp is adding a gateway, but giving a bizare name, and
destination.
