USB 2 works well too.  I backup my Laptop's 40GB drive onto a USB 40GB
external drive, which is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand
and can be powered by the USB port alone.  I use DAR (dar.sf.net) which
does a good job with full and incremental backups.
