Hi Michael,

Welcome to wellylug.

I suggest you send such msgs to the wellylug list, rather than the wlug_org
list. I guess my directions were not that clear... wlug_org is more for
wellylug organisational things, wellylug at lists.naos.co.nz is the generic Linux
help list.

My apologies for the confusion...

Anyway, with regard to your problem, see

http://www.linux-sxs.org/hardware/toshiba1.html

While this is not Mandrake specific, it does identify Linux install problems on
what is basically the same laptop (as I understand Toshiba model numbers
anyway).

The problems listed seem similar to yours, esp having to install from a boot
floppy & then PCMCIA problems. The suggested approach of building a modules
floppy, or initially disabling PCMCIA support seems like it should address your
problem as well.

This msg on a SUSE forum also seems to address similar problems with a similar
Toshiba: http://www.netsys.com/suse-linux-e/2002/05/msg00148.html

The no PCMCIA for install seems similar to your problem...

Cheers,

   Brent
