Yeah... As far as I know Debian still has by far the largest official
package repository across the most architectures.
I also personally think the dependancies in Debian are a lot more sane
than redhat et al. Admittedly I haven't used much else in quite some
time, but in the times I've used Redhat I've found several console
packages that end up wanting to install pretty much all of X because
there is a gui app or library at the end of a huge chain of
dependancies.
