Most likely not an issue with Mandrake but check your distro has loaded 
support for the port you want to use, if you type lsmod in a console 
there should be some modules for parport and/or usb. I notice KDE's 
latest version has a lot of new drivers added to it's printing manager 
database, I was able to get my laserjet 1015 working right away using cups.
