You are welcome !

yes 2.4, but what I indicate may jsut work for my machines here.. so... not a
guru thing just a give_it_a_go

Did you modify /etc/fstab ? my /etc/fstab shows :
/mnt/cdrom2 /mnt/cdrom2 supermount\
dev=/dev/scd0,fs=iso9660,--,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,noatime 0 0
And
what does /dev/sc* gives you ??
As for me I have here (but may not be of interest with 2.6):
/dev/scd0 -> scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd (root)
But this is ide-scsi related.
May be the modules for ide-scsi emulation is a problem
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments begin with
# a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored.
scsi_hostadapter
bttv
video1394
And
more /etc/modules.conf
#probeall scsi_hostadapter dc395x_trm
options ide-cd
pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi
Hope this helps.
Edouard
