I can do startx, and xdm without problems. I can even start gnome with x
manually.
However GDM loads x, then has a message box saying that the gdmgreeter
program could not be started. When I click okay it quits. Syslogd
reports the error I've posted.
It could be possibly be another problem I had experianced. I was
compiling everything for an i386. However some packages, like
scrollkeeper had really strange errors untill I compiled them for i686.
Therefore, about half of gnome is for a i386, the rest of an i686. I
compiled GDM for an i686, but it's deps are all i386. I might try
compiling GDM for i386 and seeing what happens.
