I do strange things when I'm bored, and taking a screenshot while watching a
video file in xine while it's fullscreened is one of them.
Especially when I know the image is going to turn out totally blue... Right?
What I found however is that in the preview box for saving the jpg in gnome's
screenshot program was the video underneath being displayed in the box.
After saving the .png image into my home directory I opened up nautilus and sure
enough the icon preview showed the video underneath, save for when I opened the
image in gimp!
Steps to reproduce:
Play a video in xine in fullscreen mode.
alt+f2 and run gnome-panel-screenshot
Watch the video in the preview box for however long it may entertain you.
Save the file
While keeping xine full screened in the background, open the image in
nautilus(which uses eog) or in gimp.
Watch some more of the video.
This is also works with tvtime.
I have no idea how or why this is happening, I just found it to be rather
amusing. When the video is not fullscreened underneath I just see a blue image,
this includes when the video is playing directly underneath.
Gnome gnome-panel-screenshot 2.6.1
This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.1.
libxine1 1-rc3c-1
libpng10-0 1.0.15-5
libpng12-0 1.2.5.0-6
libpng12-dev 1.2.5.0-6
Just thought I'd share, is this what they call an "easter egg"? :D
