Always do this, for all downloads. md5sum shows it is OK. I haven't used the 
mandrake self check facility (assume it has one).

I have the first issue resolved; there is an errrata on the MD website.

If you have a SCSI CDROM drive attached (and this includes external USB CDROM 
drives) the hda partition table is unreadable, to fix this you need to open a 
console, mknod /dev/sr0 c 11 0 then continue with the installation, works 
fine. So far - quite a slow upgrade. I'm a little surprised, I would have 
thought this was a big issue to miss.

Also, there are issues with CD1 not booting on some systems, the work around 
is to boot from CD2, then change back to CD1 when prompted during the 
install.
