I have a LevelOne PCI card with an Atheros chipset which does 11b and 11g, 
they do an otherwise identical PCcard version. Simple install, download the 
Madwifi kernel module and go make && make install on 2.4.x kernel, slight 
extra fiddle to get it to work on 2.6.x kernels. There is a Wiki with setup 
recipes for various distros.
