[wellylug] SymLink to a Device

You can't symlink a device over a network, however there are bound to be
several programs for recording CDs on remote machines.

I believe I've even seen scripts somewhere to do it with LPD.

The server has a script set up that records anything printed to the
spool directly to CD, and at the client end all you need to do is pass
the hostname to lpr and give it the .iso file
