You are using Debian yes?
I found that my Debian CUPS drivers were horrible. I
got all sorts of artefacts and similar garbage when I
printed. So I did this:
1. Went to www.linuxprinting.org and got the latest
foomatic-rip and gs-wrapper scripts, plus the latest
ppp-o-matic file for my printer.
2. Put foomatic-rip and gs-wrapper in /usr/bin,
chmodded 755. Symlinked
/usr/libs/cups/filter/foomatic-rip to the foomatic-rip
script.
3. Put the ppp-o-matic file in /usr/share/cups/model
4. Added the printer in CUPS (http://localhost:631).
After having put the files in the right place, it just
appeared for me.
I can't guarantee this will work for you, but it did
for me. Best of luck.
Tony
