Don't use your web browser to download it :)  Use a gFTP instead.  I
discovered this myself a few days ago when trying to download a DVD
image.  I contacted the mirror owner and only when he gave me the
results of a ls -l did I realise that something was not right with the
client I was using to download, which was mozilla.

The root caused may well be a limitation in the C++ libraries used by
gcc 3.0 - 3.3.  GCC 3.4 fixes the problem.  I say this because jigdo
(the useful debian image generator) is currently compiled with 2.95 in
order to work around this limitation.
