Either I (or probably you) are missing something here... Pine is an email 
client, not an editor. By default it uses an editor called 'pico'. Trying 
to use an email client to edit files is like trying to edit the Windows 
registry with MSPaint...

I quite like nano, the GNU GPL pico clone. I used to write code with it 
too, until I discovered the One True Editor. No, the other one.
