It was "ok" - it was a while ago now, but it essentially worked. The
Cygwin X server was stable AFAICR. I used it for months so it must have
been fine. I recall I used a dedicated root window rather than
multi-windows. I'm afraid I can't remember much of the details - I was
glad to get rid of it for "real" Linux when the time came (i.e. I'd been
there long enough to feel confident enough to blatantly break policy
imposed by San Jose Head Office and toast Windows in favour of Linux).
I've survived quite well as a Linux user in a Windows environment for over
a year now. I have the use of rdesktop + Windows Terminal Services if
things get desperate. Recent advances to Evolution + Connector have made
email a breeze. But if I ever have to go back to Windows, I'll definitely
make use of Cygwin (or whatever else is similar then) again.
