I haven an ancient Lexmark optra R here, works great.

As for the model you're looking at,  I'd say that it should be
allright since pretty much all other models from the HL
series supposedly work perfectly (according to 
linuxprinting.org).

Yes, just the transport is different. lpt:// vs. socket://
