I presume the original poster meant thermal paste - just remember you're
trying to exclude the air from the regions where the metal doesn't make
contact - you are not trying to create a layer of paste between the
surfaces. The less you can get away with applying, the better. If you
stuff it up with too much paste, you risk actually trapping a bubble of
air and then you might as well not use it. I use an amount equal to about
half a grain of medium rice and smooth it out with the edge of my Flybuys
card.

P.S. don't use acetone on your Flybuys card...
