But why use source debs when you can just used a much more modern
distro in the first place? I've found Fedora Core 2 to be extremely
happy with yum and whatnot. Granted, I don't like rpm-based distros
much anymore, but still...
So when Sarge is finally released, it'll still be a year or two behind
the times. I mean, this stability is great and all for production
machines, but for a desktop box, I like to run newer stuff. Far too
often, Sid's got a lot of broken packages... (but I guess that's why
they call it unstable, no?)
My biggest question is whether or not the new installer will put 2.4.x
on by default or still stick with 2.2...
Don't get me wrong, Debian was my first true love of linux distros,
but Gentoo's stolen my heart. I still used deb on my servers because
it IS so stable, but Gentoo is much more usable as a desktop distro.
