Hi Tristan, I think Mandrake is probably a good choice, I haven't used it
much personally, but I know there are a hell of a lot of people do, so
there's lots of help out there if you need it. It also has a nice friendly
graphical installer, which is probably your best bet for a first install.
You can buy it from Dick Smith's for $10.
As Darryl said, trying out with Knoppix or Morphix first could be a good
idea, because you can run it off the disk without needing to install - a
good way of seing if your laptop likes Linux. You can also get both Knoppix
and Morphix from Dick Smith's, and I think they cost $10 for the 2 of them.
