Maybe the problems are with your always bleeding-edge hardware?
I have  no problems with a NVidia here in my wife's machine,
works well with SuSE 9.1, Slack 9.1 and 10, and the Xandros
off the PC Magazine cover, we had sampled them all :) ... but
then the card's an older model?
