Hi Chris, I cross posted the original request on the NZLUG aswell as the 
WellyLUG, and got this back from Chris Day @ DSE.

Hugo and the team at Bluewater Systems have done some great work with XH1151:

They have developed a kit which includes uCLinux SDK & JTAG Debug Adaptor for
$180

Got one in for testing last week, and it definitely looks interesting.  I did look into the 2900's briefly, but couldn't find a huge amount of information and the smaller size factor of the XH1151 is quite appealing.
