I don't think any distro currently provides a compelling reason to shift 
from Mandrake.

With Gnome 2.12 due in October 2005 there is expected to be significant 
performance improvements primarily through reduction of memory 
footprint. There will also be improved integration with OpenOffice.org 
(version 2.0.x by then) and Helix/Real Player.

These things MAY move the tipping point in favour of Gnome based distros 
and Ubuntu is certainly one of the better ones, especially once they 
improve on the current installer.
