You may need to tell Debian about this if it doesn't autodetect. (I'm not a
Debian user)

The chipset is SiS 315.

Nvidia != SiS. That is never gonna work. You should have an option, if the SiS
chipset is supported at all, for an SiS 300 or 3xx chipset. The other
possibility is that the card is PCI not AGP (Pine make both) and later versions
of X (at least in my experience) don't like PCI much, but are fine with AGP.

Or plug a cheap Nvidia card in there instead :-)
