Thanks for the advice, I think my package database may have been
temporarally corrupted  as the terminal I was running the rpm command
in was hanging but it's OK again now. I got one new toy today a usb to
IDE adaptor which means I can now plug a dvdrom drive into my laptop.
I'm just waiting for an FC3 dvd I bought on trademe to arive. I'll
need to kick off the install with a floppy disk as this old laptop
can't boot usb devices.
