Thanks for that I just used synaptic to install it.
Yes it sure is complex, I have just managed to write some stuff
to a CD but whether I did it in the correct way I dont know.
One thing I am totally lost on is is the bit where
it says ' File prefix - tracks' what do I want the file prefix to be
and then the next time it has to be something else?

Anything else vital you know about this program that I would need?  I did look
at the CD I created, it said one item in the nautilus window when I re inserted
the CD, I clicked on that folder pic and it said 16 items, and then after
clicking it displayed 16 dirs (+ contents) in my home dir. Does this sound OK and the main
thing is would I be able to restore from this?
