Hi all, I am attempting to install Kbackup on a Xandros 3.0 box
Backup device is a 12/24g DAT, attached to an Adaptec 2940 SCSI card (only
device on this card)
The card and DAT drive are found and correctly identified by Xandros
according to the Device Manager.

I've downloaded kbackup from http://packages.debian.org/stable/utils/kbackup
but this failed with the following message:

"Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
kbackup: Depends: kbackup-multibuf but it is not installable
packages
Done."

So then I d//l kbackup-multibuf (1.2.11-10) from
http://packages.debian.org/stable/utils/kbackup-multibuf

But this failed as follows:

"1 not fully installed or removed.
chown: `karsten:users': invalid user
Xandros Networks has detected the following error:
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Xandros Networks detected errors while processing the following file(s):
kbackup
s /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Done."

(Karsten is the name of the package developer AFAIK)

Is there a realtively straight forward way of installing a backup to tape
application?
I was going to try Arkeia but apparently that has security issues.

BTW the hardware is good - the box dual boots to Windows 2000 server and the
tape operates fine on that side.

Thanks
Peter
