Spam is spam. End of story.
But one genuine once-a-week email roundup of events that consists of
a list of headlines with 2-3 sentence summary and URLs pointing to
webpages with the full details ... could be useful and welcome way for
LUGs to communicate with each other.
In 2005 at least one other person in WellyLUG has been told off for
posting spam/adverts about stuff that could be considered to be of
general interest to WellyLUGgers.
Karen's recent "roundup" posts were much more spam-like in character than
the other person's email was. She posted considerably more of it. He
posted the one email, and his intent, as I read it, was genuinely to
point something out that may have been of interest to other WellyLUGgers.
Her intent is to promote and to advertize. He got well and truly stomped
on. She is being tolerated.
Please explain the difference.
Regards
David Murray
