[wellylug] auth.log time wrong

Hi
can anyone think of why the time stamping in my auth.log is wrong?

eg
~# date
Tue Feb  8 09:09:48 NZDT 2005

which is correct
if I tail -f auth.log I get

Feb  7 12:11:53 localhost sshd[27936]: debug1: Got 82/439 for keepalive

same problem for other logs ...

cat /etc/timezone
Pacific/Auckland

this is correct?

I'm confused.
