No offence, but I suspect you're wasting your time with this sort of
communication. You need to point out to the Commerce Commission
specifically why Telstra Clear's actions are a violation of New
Zealand law, and I don't see that anywhere in your e-mail. Basically
you are saying -- Telstraclear is trying to make more money, and this
should be stopped because it means we pay more.
Regrettably, there is no general law against a company trying to get
more money out of you.
You could spend some more time developing the legal argument -- if
there is a convincing one --but my view is that voting with your feet
will be far more effective than asking the government to solve the
problem (and I think you've said you will vote with your feet?).
For TC users, that means giving up the beloved cable, but that's the
price you pay for sticking to your principles. (I gave up cable just
over a year ago, as noted on this list previously.)
If you have more general concerns about telecommunications policy and
regulation in New Zealand, you can send mail to the blokes you voted
into Parliament, for free (no stamp required) and let them know how
you feel. They are much more likely to react to an appeal to
sentiment than the Commerce Commission is.
