it needs to be set at boot. there may be a way to do it permanently by
messing with the nvram variables (see http://openwrt.org/OpenWrtNVRAM )
but i didn't try that. i just have a script that runs at boot.
i have even set it to wait a minute or so after boot, so that i have the
default settings for a while just in case i mess my own stuff up so much
that i can't log in anymore.
